A Brief History
We opened up our shop on Keswick Avenue in Glenside Pa. in 1982, down the street from the historic Keswick Theater. The shop is a family run business, Giancarlo (husband) upholsterer, Carmelina (wife) seamstress, and Massimiliano (Max) (son) upholsterer/ salesman. Giancarlo came here to the U.S.A. in 1976 from Rome Italy, where he also had his own upholstering shop. When he was 36 years old he worked for D. Becker & Sons on Third and Girard in Philadelphia. He worked there for 6 years then decided to open his own shop. Giancarlo has 50 years experience in the upholstery business.


Awards and Recognition
In 2005 the shop was recognized in Philadelphia Magazine's "Best of Philly Issue" for best upholsterer. That same year Giancarlo Upholstery Inc. was also in the Delaware Valley Consumers Checkbook where we were compared with 17 other upholstering shops. We were rated 100% on overall performance, letting you know cost upfront, and advising on service options and pricing. We also earned the Checkbook's top rating for quality work.


About the Upholstery Process
All of the upholstery work is done on the premises and you are always welcome to stop in the shop to see the work in progress. If during the upholstery process a minor repair is needed we will take care of it at no charge; however, if a more significant problem arises (for example, we realize that the peice needs extra spring work or frame repair that could not be seen beforehand) we'll notify you before we proceed. Your satisfaction is our top priority.
